disney is coming out with a new documentary called Waking Sleeping Beauty. It’s about the Disney corporation from 1984 to 1994 and how the Animation studio struggled during the 80’s in producing box office flops and revamped itself through “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” and “The Lion King.”

“Through interviews, internal memos, home movies, and a cast of characters featuring Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy Disney, alongside an amazing array of talented artists that includes Don Bluth, John Lasseter, and Tim Burton, Waking Sleeping Beauty shines a light on Disney Animations darkest hours, greatest joys and its improbable renaissance.”

i’m not usually one for documentaries, but  i do love disney. plus it’ll be exciting to watch something i have first hand learning experience on from my Art of Disney class.

Release date: March 26, 2010
